About Chanelle

As you embark on your journey toward healing and personal growth, I want to warmly welcome you to the safe, inclusive, and empathetic space I strive to create.

As an African American woman, I’ve traversed a path filled with unique life experiences that have deeply shaped my perspective on relationships, resilience, and personal identity. This journey, often marked by societal stereotypes and discrimination, as well as cultural expectations and identity, has given me a profound understanding of the diverse experiences of individuals and families, regardless of their backgrounds. I share these experiences with you to foster a sense of understanding and connection.

My approach to therapy is not just a profession, but a personal commitment rooted in cultural sensitivity, inclusivity, and a profound understanding of the impact of societal factors on relationships. I am dedicated to empowering you to embrace your identity, transcend societal barriers, and cultivate healthy, resilient relationships.

Your unique story is not just honored, but celebrated in our collaborative journey of self-discovery and growth.

How I Work

As a marriage and family therapist, my experiences have profoundly influenced my approach to helping clients. I understand how important it is to be sensitive to different cultures and to recognize the influence of society on relationships. This understanding allows me to create a safe, inclusive space for clients to explore their unique challenges and experiences. Drawing from my journey, I strive to support individuals, couples, and families in transcending societal barriers, embracing their identities, and fostering healthy, resilient relationships.

Rest assured, I strive to integrate a variety of therapeutic approaches tailored to meet your specific needs. Working primarily with teens, adults, and couples, I believe in the importance of a holistic, person-centered approach, creating a supportive and empathetic environment that focuses on your unique experiences and strengths. Additionally, I incorporate attachment-based and psychodynamic approaches to help you explore past experiences and relationship patterns
that may be impacting your current struggles. My goal is to provide you with the most effective and personalized therapy possible.

For transformative clinical specialties, I focus on anxiety and depression, codependency, multicultural and diversity issues, marital issues, non-monogamy, abuse, trauma, body image issues, women’s issues, PTSD, grief/loss, autism, self-esteem, life transitions, BPD, mindfulness-based stress reduction, and more.

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to create a supportive and understanding environment. This approach allows clients to explore their thoughts and emotions at their own pace while tailoring these practices to their cultural and social contexts. I also utilize trauma-informed approaches to ensure sensitivity to the impact of trauma, including historical and intergenerational trauma, and to provide care that is considerate of these factors.

In my work with couples, I utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help partners navigate challenges and cultivate secure and fulfilling relationships. Mindfulness practices are also integrated into my approach to support clients in cultivating greater self-awareness and emotional resilience. I aim to offer inclusive and culturally sensitive therapy that honors the experiences of diverse individuals, couples, and families as they navigate trauma, relationships,
and personal growth.

No matter what challenges you may be facing, remember that you don’t have to navigate them alone. I am here to accompany you on your path to healing and help you achieve the fulfilling life and relationships you deserve. Let’s embark on this journey together.
