From our founder

Diving deeper into relationships.

A few minutes with our founder, Brooke Sprowl, LCSW — on the patterns that keep business partners stuck, and how we work with them.

Does this sound like you?

The same standoff in every meeting.

“We used to finish each other’s sentences. Now we can’t finish a meeting.”
“I feel like I’m carrying the company while my partner coasts.”
“Every decision turns into a negotiation.”
“We avoid the money conversation because it always blows up.”
“One of us wants to scale, the other wants to protect what we have.”
“The friendship that started this business is what we’re losing.”

If you’re both nodding — that’s exactly where we begin.

Therapy for business partners in LA

Partnership therapy that gets to the root.

Starting a business with someone is one of the most intense relationships you will ever have. The same partnership that once felt like a shared mission can start to feel tense, lopsided, or even adversarial.

If you’re here searching for therapy for business partners, you probably want the partnership to work again but you may not know where to start.

At My LA Therapy, our therapists offer personalized, research-based partnership therapy in a confidential and safe environment to untangle conflict, rebuild trust, and strengthen how you lead together.

The good news
Asking for help is a leadership decision, not a last resort.

Over time, small disagreements harden into standoffs — and the partner you trusted most starts to feel like an obstacle.

A trained therapist can guide you both back to clarity, respect, and shared direction before the trust that built the business wears any thinner.

Our partnership expertise

How we support business partners in therapy.

Three research-based methods, plus an optional strategy add-on from our founder.

Neural filaments lit up inside a translucent brain — Nervous System-Based Therapy for business partners in Los Angeles
01Nervous System-Based Therapy for Partners

Our founder Brooke Sprowl’s signature approach starts with what happens in each partner’s body under pressure. When the nervous system reads threat, you push, withdraw, or shut down.

  • ✓Notice when each of you shifts into fight, flight, or shutdown
  • ✓Slow the reactive cycle before a meeting escalates
  • ✓Co-regulate instead of escalate
  • ✓Repair faster after a rupture
  • ✓Build enough safety for hard conversations about money and roles
  • ✓Stay steady with your partner under stress
02Nonviolent Communication (NVC)

A structured way to say what you need without blame, and hear what sits underneath your partner’s position.

  • ✓Separate observations from judgments
  • ✓Name the need under each position
  • ✓Make clear, doable requests
  • ✓Hear criticism without defending
  • ✓Replace ultimatums with negotiation
  • ✓Keep disagreements about the business, not each other
A glowing light bulb against the sky — cognitive behavioral therapy for business partners in Los Angeles
03Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Practical tools for noticing the thinking traps that turn disagreements into standoffs.

  • ✓Catch catastrophizing about the business
  • ✓Challenge black-and-white thinking about your partner
  • ✓Separate facts from assumptions
  • ✓Regulate before making big decisions
  • ✓Build communication skills you can practice between sessions
  • ✓Replace blame with problem-solving
04Add-on: Strategic consulting

For partners who also want help with the business itself, our founder offers strategy consulting built on her Missional Integrity Model — a four-part operating system for aligned growth.

  • ✓ALIGN — accept feedback, lead with integrity, name your north star
  • ✓LEAD — find your levers, delegate, automate, and deploy AI
  • ✓DRIVE — build demand with messaging that resonates
  • ✓SCALE — build infrastructure that grows without breaking you
  • ✓A priority map and 90-day execution plan
  • ✓Offered as a strategy intensive, a 90-day engagement, or an advisory retainer

Our founder’s signature approach

Nervous System-Based Therapy for business partners.

Our proprietary method developed by our founder after twenty years in practice, and the backbone of how we work with business partners. Most standoffs are two nervous systems reading threat at once. That's where conflict escalates and spirals.

✓Developed by our founder Brooke Sprowl, LCSW
01

Real-time autonomic tracking & coregulation

When one partner’s alarm fires, the other’s usually follows. We track both nervous systems in the room and teach you to settle each other instead of escalating.

02

Defense system mapping & pattern interruption

Control, withdrawal, and defensiveness are defenses that once kept each of you safe. We identify and compassionately interrupt them to break the cycle between you.

03

Somatic & nervous system-based communication

Rebuild the felt sense of safety that lets hard conversations happen — so repair comes faster, and decisions move again.

What to expect

What partnership therapy actually looks like.

01
A free 30-minute consult
You tell us what’s going on — together, or one of you first. We listen for the pattern you’re stuck in, and who on the roster fits it.
02
Your first session
Less history-taking than you expect. Your therapist maps the cycle — who pushes, who withdraws, and where the conversation breaks down.
03
The work itself
Weekly sessions that interrupt the pattern in real time. You leave with something to practice — a workout for the partnership.
04
What changes
The disagreement still comes. The spiral doesn’t follow. Most partners notice repair happens faster — and the respect comes back.

Common questions

Before you reach out.

Still deciding? The free 30-minute consult exists for exactly this — no charge, no commitment.

Do both partners need to come to every session?
Most sessions are joint — the pattern lives between you, so that’s where we work. Your therapist may occasionally suggest individual sessions to support the joint work; that’s normal, and planned openly with both of you.
Isn’t this just business coaching or mediation?
No. Mediation settles a dispute; coaching sets goals. Partnership therapy works on the pattern underneath the dispute — how each of you reacts under pressure — using research-based methods like Nervous System-Based Therapy, NVC, and CBT. If you also want help with strategy and systems, our founder offers that as a separate add-on.
What if my partner doesn’t want to come?
It’s common for one founder to arrive first. Starting on your own still shifts the dynamic — and a good first consult often gives a hesitant partner a reason to join. We’ll meet you where you are.
How long does partnership therapy take?
Most partners feel a shift in the first several weeks and do meaningful work over a few months. Your therapist will be candid with you about what your situation likely calls for — no open-ended timelines.
Is this confidential from our team and investors?
Yes. Sessions are confidential, like any therapy — nothing is shared with employees, investors, or your board. Sessions run online across California or in person at any of our LA offices, which helps when your calendars are full.
How do you decide which therapist we see?
You tell us what’s going on, and we hand-select from our small, boutique roster — every one of them personally vetted and trained by our founder. For business partners, that means someone who actually works with founders and partnership conflict — a human judgment call, not an algorithm.
