Young Adults Therapy

The trick is to grow up without getting old.

— Frank Lloyd Wright

As we navigate the new challenges and transitions that come with transitioning into young adulthood, the most important thing is to learn to connect with and tune into our own inner voices.

It can be overwhelming at times to know how to listen to ourselves and to what we need when it comes to all of the various transitions we face.

We will help you learn to learn to hear your own inner voice amidst the noise.

We will help you listen to yourself even when the voices of your friends, parents, and social media seem louder than yours.

We will help you learn to find stillness even when the world feels like it is moving by at impossible speeds.

Our 20s and 30s are a time of many major life transitions.

For many of us, we are tasked for the first time with asking ourselves major questions about what we want for our lives:

  • What do I want to do with my life? What is my calling? What is the balance between passion and pragmatism?
  • How do I know if I want to spend the rest of my life with someone?
  • Do I want children and when? How will I know?
  • Who do I want to be? What are my values?

Walking the path from being a carefree adolescent in high school or college to having to make more serious and responsible choices as an adult can be overwhelming.

Right?!!

Not to mention the additional complexities of social media, online dating, and rapidly changing cultural norms to contend with and add to the confusion.

Often, young adulthood is the first time we experience an unstructured life and knowing what to paint on that “blank canvas” can feel daunting at times.

The beauty is, when you are game for reckoning with these challenges, seeking help and feedback, and keeping your eyes wide open, you can be empowered to create the life you want.

We’re here to help you do just that.

Not to mention support any mental health and relationship issues you might be facing like anxiety, depression, eating disorders, codependency or addiction, to name a few.

Young adulthood can also be the first time that childhood trauma and other past, painful experiences can come into consciousness.

By facing our fears, healing our underlying trauma, and reconnecting with our inner voice and intuition, we can restore a sense of vitality, peace, and empowerment.

“Adulting”: Young Adult Life Transitions

As mentioned above, there might be many deep questions racing around in your mind that you want to explore about yourself and the world around you.

You are probably now faced with learning to “adult.” Doing things like paying bills, finding a place to live, figuring out what you want to do with your life, learning to budget, and even simple things like learning how to cook and shop for your own groceries.

For some, these things may seem simple, but for many of us, it’s not so easy to face all these new tasks at once.

You might also be navigating intimate relationships, and trying to figure out who you want to spend the rest of your life with and if and when you want children.

All of the uncertainty of this time can feel overwhelming and lead to low self-esteem, a loss of identity, or a feeling of aimlessness.

We’re here to empower you to define your values clearly, learn the skills to achieve your career and relationship goals, and restore a sense of vitality, peace, and clarity.

Young Adult and Mental Health

There can be issues with mental health that start to occur during this transition, such as depression and anxiety, but also eating disorders, substance abuse, invisible illnesses, or other chronic illnesses and mental health disorders.

The risk for depression is also higher as you enter this new part of life, and you might feel more confused as you start to form your own beliefs that are different from what you were taught growing up.

This can also be attributed to the pressure as well as the possibilities that you might face as a young adult.

Additionally, nowadays it can take longer for young adults to become financially stable and define their career path.

The expectations of success have become higher and higher, and this can create a lot of pressure.

But don’t worry. You’re not the only one going through this and we have extensive experience guiding young adults through these new paths and helping them learn the skills they need to thrive.
