Our services include Psychotherapy, Personal Training, Massage Therapy, and Nutrition.
My hope is to give you an experience of yourself in our sessions that is different from your experience the rest of the time. Over time, you will internalize the experience of peace, safety, courage, and confidence so that you can carry it into your life outside of session.
My desire for every person who comes into my office is to help you come to a point where guilt, shame, and anxiety are no longer controlling factors in your life and are replaced by courage, self-love, and trust. When you are rooted firmly in your love and compassion for yourself, you are capable of facing and achieving more than you can imagine.
Working with people to help transform their lives is a deep source fulfillment and joy. I feel extremely lucky to help people uncover the inner hope and strength they often don’t realize they possess. I am passionate about and committed to my own personal growth and feel thankful for the ways I can use my own experience to energize and inform my work; and grateful that my clinical work challenges me to grow as a person.

As a practicing therapist and mindfulness practitioner for 15 years, I incorporate both traditional and innovative methods to help you overcome life’s challenges and embrace your potential. Through the process of healing, we address underlying issues and discover a sense of meaning and peace far greater than before these symptoms began to rule our lives. As a result, we can experience joy and strength beyond what we ever imagined.
All of my methods are Evidence-Based Practices; in other words, they have been proven by research. In working with individuals, I specialize in depression, anxiety, trauma, relationships, and emotional regulation. I also have extensive experience working with chemical dependency, substance abuse/dependence, and addictions of all kinds.
Many clients also seek help for stage of life transitions, often during young adulthood when social expectations are at their highest and roles begin to change or during middle-age regarding new demands in career, child-rearing and long-term relationships. I aid in helping clients to develop an optimal life experience in whatever stage of life or circumstance in which clients find themselves. I look forward to helping you or someone you love.

Everyone experiences challenges from time to time, but when the difficult times are starting to outweigh the good times or you keep seeing the same patterns repeat over and over in your life, you may want to consider seeking help. Even when you have friends and family who offer support, it can sometimes be difficult to hear your own voice amidst the advice of so many others. I am here not to give you advice, but to help you learn to listen to and trust yourself deeply and fully so that you can live the kind of life you’ve always wanted.
Some of my areas of special expertise and training include: depression, anxiety, children and teens, couples and relationships, trauma, and families.
As you learn to trust yourself, you will begin to loosen the grip that anxiety, depression, and shame have over your life. Rather than reacting to things out of fear, you will start to make decisions that are in line with your true self. Together we will begin to delve into understanding the deeper, underlying causes behind the problems you are experiencing. As we bring awareness to the root causes of your issues, we will begin to change the way you see yourself, your relationships, and the world around you.
Drawing on my training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and somatic work, I blend a pragmatic approach with an experiential one. I will give you practical tools to cope with and overcome the problems you are experiencing while also helping to address and heal the underlying causes of those problems. I find that attacking the problems on both fronts– the present and past– helps to create lasting changes that endure over time.

My intention is to invite you to slow down, tune in, and explore your quieter and oftentimes, wiser self. It is human to struggle because, let’s face it–life is tough. We can easily feel overwhelmed, trapped, fearful, angry, and sad as a result of living in a fast-paced, stressful environment. This reality coupled with depression, anxiety, loss, traumatic events, or addiction issues can often sap our resources. As a result we can easily loose sight of what is important to us and feel a dampening of our spirit.
Some of my areas of specialization are: depression, anxiety, mood disorders, children and teens, divorce and blended families, couples, family therapy, perinatal therapy, and addiction.
With over fifteen years of experience as a mindfulness-based practitioner, yoga teacher, and yoga therapist, I approach psychotherapy from a mind-body-spirit perspective. My work is individualized and client-centered positioning you as the “expert” in your life. With a foundation in mindfulness, DBT, and CBT, I provide a safe, nurturing environment inviting you to expand your awareness with compassion. From this awareness comes the ability to transform.

I have been a Marriage and Family Therapist for over 30 years and, as corny as this may sound, helping people create joyful and loving lives is truly my passion. I believe in the human spirit and in everyone’s natural ability to heal themselves.
Much like the process of Tai Chi or Acupuncture, which are brilliantly created to open up the life force within, I will guide and help you unblock those patterns of behaviors and thoughts that hold you back from living the life you were truly meant to live. I fuse eastern practices with western healing modalities designed to balance energy, enhance expression, creativity, and deepen our relationships – not just to ourselves, but also to all of life.
While I do not like to focus on labels and achievements, I realize it may be helpful to know my background. I lovingly created the eating disorder outpatients program at the Radar Institute as well as alternative programs for the healing of addictions. I’ve provided continuing educations throughout the United States to doctors, mental health professionals, clergy, emergency and disaster relief workers on mindfulness, compassion fatigue, and the prevention of burnout. Most importantly, I’ve been blessed by having studied with world renowned teachers of Tai Chi and Qi Gong as well as many years with a Sufi master, studying Yoga, meditative dance and nutrition. I am also passionate about working with couples, anxiety, life transitions, and the elderly with concerns related to caregiving and aging.

With nearly 20 years of experience, I employ an integrative approach, tailored to suit each client’s individual needs. Rather than limit ourselves to one method, I prefer to take the best from various traditions. Relational Gestalt therapy, CBT, clinical hypnotherapy, narrative therapy, harm reduction, and many other approaches and techniques can be utilized to work most effectively through the particular issues you are struggling with.
For those dealing with addictions, along with traditional approaches I offer alternatives to 12-step programs or total abstinence. Similar approach applies to self-harm behaviors and other maladaptive habits and behaviors. I prefer to emphasize attainable goals and incremental progress, where every effort toward health and well-being is recognized and strengthened.
I bring kindness and compassion to my work, but will not refrain from challenging you where appropriate. Sometimes we need to creatively adapt to changes that happen against our will; at other times, the challenge is to design and bring about change in our environment and within ourselves. Building healthy relationships, treating ourselves with due care and compassion, refraining from self-harm – these are all skills that can be learned. A therapeutic relationship can provide the support necessary to make it happen.
My goal as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist is to provide you with support, a level of understanding, and an authentic connection to help you better understand yourself, your circumstances, and what you need. By making the choice to engage in therapy, I hope to help you to gain a stronger and more empowered sense of self, to navigate life’s challenges, and to experience the life-changing power of loving yourself. I recognize that throughout your daily life you may be consumed by thoughts, feelings, and emotions that both serve and do not serve you, making it hard to find clarity and an understanding of who you are or what you may need. By creating an authentic, warm, and non-judgmental space, we can work together to help you uncover where you want to go, more of who you are, and to learn how to challenge those thoughts, feelings, or hurdles that seem to be getting in the way.
Within my practice, I will try to provide you with a comfortable, safe, supportive, and understanding environment. I hope to help you make connections that will allow you to find your way and to get to know yourself better, all while feeling heard.
