Group Therapy

Group therapy can be a powerful way to heal; in fact, research has demonstrated that group therapy is as effective as individual therapy. Through groups, we realize we are not alone in our struggles, that other people – wonderful, talented and strong people – struggle just like us. Through observing others, we begin to see that our pain is not unique and we are more normal than we think. We learn to accept and provide support.

Receiving acceptance from others helps us accept ourselves and providing support to others can create a sense of purpose and worth as we demonstrate how we can powerfully affect the lives of others and help them heal. If you have a specific group you’d like to form, please contact us and let us know. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about our groups.

Anxiety, depression, career challenges, and relationship issues are typical challenges. Sometimes you may feel like you are the only one with these issues, but they are common and respond very well to therapy. We’ve put together a group together so you can learn from each other and support each other.

In this process group, we explore the underlying causes of anxiety and depression; we’ll begin to face our issues head on and practice another way of being. We will practice techniques to regulate anxiety as well as explore what we may be avoiding and channeling into anxiety and depression, which may cause problems in many areas of life, such as relationships and your career. We will provide support, acceptance, and compassion to each of our members and explore triggers of anxiety and depression.

Would you like to participate? You might learn some new coping skills, learn more about yourself and how other people are working through similar issues. Here are two possible times we could make a group happen:

Group is not intended to take the place of individual therapy, but to add to the learning, growth and support of your individual work. For continuity, we ask for a commitment of at least three sessions. Group needs a minimum of at least 4 people. You will discuss the fee with your group therapist.

Making Parenting a Pleasure

Making Parenting a Pleasure, or MPAP, is an evidenced based, group parenting curriculum intended to support families that are enduring high levels of stress. By participating in this 13 week, cumulative, course, parents will gain community support from other another while learning helpful strategies to practice at home to reduce the normal and inevitable stress of parenting.

Key topics addressed within MPAP are the importance of parental self-care, stress and anger management, understanding child development, communication skills, and positive discipline.

If there is not an MPAP class running at this time, our MPAP therapist will be able to incorporate lessons and strategies within individual or couples therapy in order to accommodate your parenting and family needs.

Online COVID-19 Support Group

During this time of social distancing you might feel isolated, alone and scared. This group will provide strategies, support, and social interaction in order to help all of us stay connected. The topics discussed include but are not limited to anxiety, depression, stress, financial pressure and other challenges that have been brought up from this pandemic.
