Throughout life, we experience a number of hurdles and challenges that are sometimes difficult to tackle alone. This can leave us feeling stuck and unsure of how to get around them. As your therapist and co-traveler, I will strive to meet you where you’re at and provide guidance to discover the hidden possibilities for growth and transformation within the problems you encounter.
I work with individuals to help provide objective insight, improve confidence and self-worth, and to empower you to feel a greater sense of peace, self-acceptance, and improved relational connections.
I specialize in depression, anxiety, and trauma, and I provide support for people going through significant life changes. I believe that offering a combination of compassion and truth are the keys to healing. Considering each of your uniqueness, I make an effort to respect and learn about your individual needs and tailor my treatment modalities to you: your values, your concerns, and what is most effective for your healing and growth.
I will also take a look at how you interact with others, the world around you, and yourself to improve your capacity to make deep connections with others and improve your communication. Having and maintaining relationships is a big part of life, whether they are with your family, romantic partners, co-workers, friends, or yourself. Our relationships can provide a mirror for us to discover unconscious issues that can keep us stuck — or free us when we bring them into conscious awareness and release the trauma and habits that maintain them.
Looking in depth at past relationships, you may notice yourself repeating the same patterns over and over again. By exploring these relationships and how you can learn from them, we can help you break the cycle of repeating interpersonal difficulties and improve your emotional intelligence. As we examine what you learned about relationships from other people and society, and what you truly desire from these various relationships, we can work together to achieve the goal of creating long-lasting, safe, and meaningful relationships.
In addition, I provide you with practical tools and skills that you can use every day to alleviate some of the stress and anxiety you may be experiencing. Ultimately, my mission is to help bring out the strength you have within to navigate life’s hurdles with grace and confidence, exploring the hidden potential for your difficulties to become your triumphs and help you become who you desire to be.
I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) #127766 and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) #10173. I am employed by My LA Therapy and supervised by Manuel Briones, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) #11831.
How I Work
First and foremost, I take time to build a unique relationship on the foundation of empathy, understanding, and trust. It’s essential that you feel you are safe enough in the therapy space to be open, authentic, and vulnerable with me — that safety is the foundation for doing the deep, unconscious work that is so transformative.
Understanding your expectations about therapy and what you would like to take away from our time together will help us co-create an initial framework, roadmap, and plan. I take a collaborative approach, listening to your concerns, soliciting feedback, and adjusting my approach to what is most helpful for you.
My integrative approach blends several modalities including CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Attachment Theory, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Mindfulness. From a Cognitive-Behavioral lens, I will help you notice different thought and behavior patterns that affect your daily functioning and how to reframe your mindset and overcome your irrational thoughts that distort the way you see the world and relate to yourself and others. Integrating Attachment Theory and Psychodynamic approaches, we will explore how past experiences and relationships have shaped the way we view ourselves, others, and the world around us — and how to change our conditioned patterns and responses. Woven throughout all of this will be Mindfulness techniques that are designed to help you bring awareness to your in-the-moment experience, changing your relationship with your own mind and body, and allowing you to develop greater awareness of how you can relate to each moment with greater kindness and love. My hope is to help you cultivate resilience, vitality, and peace and to become more empowered to take on life’s challenges as opportunities for transformation.
